How To Dissasemble Your Paracord

If you are planning to learn to use paracord in an emergency situation, it is important that you first learn how to disassemble the braided product you have on hand (bracelet, dog collar, belt etc.)
This can be done in a few easy steps:

  1. Find the end of the cord that has been melted to avoid fraying. Use your fingers or a multi-tool to unfastenthe melted end from the rest of the braiding.
  2. Unwind or undo the braiding of the paracord product. This can take as little as seconds to a few minutes depending on the type of braiding used.
  3. Once you have a long length of paracord, you have some options.
    • If you need the entire strength and length of the paracord, it is now ready for you to use.
    • If you need to use one or more of the 7 inner strands, use a knife or multi-tool to cut the very tip of the paracord. The outer nylon will then slide off and you can get to the inner strands. Remember, after the inner strands are removed, the nylon outer sheath is still very useful!
    • If you need even thinner longer strands, each of the 7 inner strands can then be split into 2, making the exact number of inner strands that can be used 14.

Note

You can rely on paracord to be there when you need to make a small game snare. It can also be used to catch fish!  Once you have disassembled your Juggerknots-Tue Survival Gear, click here to learn how to use your paracord to catch your own food in an emergency situation.
